THREE persons, lost their lives today during a boat accident in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
A community source told our correspondent that the boat capsized after facing a strong wind in the middle of the sea in Bonny.
The boat was moving from Bonny to Port Harcourt when the unfortunate incident occurred.
FOX NAIJA learnt that though the number of those on board the ill-fated boat had not been ascertained.
It was learnt that a lady, whose name was not immediately given, died in the accident.
The source, who spoke with FOX NAIJA on the telephone, explained that the lady, who was announced dead, was a student of The Rivers State University, the other two was a Gentle man who is believed to be a student of University of Port Harcourt and a man believed to be the owner of the boat.
“It was a local boat and we learnt that three lives were lost. There was a very terrible wind and a heavy rain this morning.
Spokesman for the police in the state, confirmed the incident, but added that he had yet to get details of what happened, including the number of those who lost their lives.
“I can confirm to you that there was a boat mishap, but the detail is still sketchy. I will get back to you as soon as I am fully briefed on it,” spokesman said.
