Stephen Belafonte could face up to 10 years in jail if charged & convicted ofillegal possession of a fire arm

A new report indicates that if Mel B's estranged husband, Stephen

Belafonte is charged and convicted of illegal possession of a firearm,

he could face up to 10 years in prison.

This is because he's not allowed to be in possession of a gun or

ammunition after being convicted of domestic violence back in 2003.

ATF agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and

Explosives raided his Hollywood Hills home last week to determine if

Belafonte was in possession of a gun or ammunition.

Although they did not find a gun, an empty shell casing and a bullet

that was out of the casing was found. Federal prosecutors are looking

at the evidence (not specified) that was seized to determine if he

should be prosecuted on federal weapons charges.

If you recall, news broke yesterday that Mel B obtained a restraining

order against Stephen, accusing him of domestic violence, impregnating

their nanny and extorting her to take part in threesomes throughout

their ten year marriage.

The U.S. Attorney in L.A is reviewing the case for possible

prosecution. Both Mel B and Stephen's brother would testify they have

seen Stephen in possession of the gun on multiple occasions.
